CAN-DO Founder Amy Povah collaborated with The Council* to write an ‘Open Letter’ to President Obama. We drew the interest of Michelle Mark of Business Insider, who published the letter on Dec 12, 2016. CAN-DO coordinated with other advocacy organizations plus reached out to, and secured 42 clemency recipients who attached their name to the letter. Our main concern was over the many prisoners being denied clemency who fit all the criteria of Clemency Project 2014; more specifically the volume of women and pot prisoners denied or being passed over. The open letter (at the end of the article) requested a reconsideration of a several men and women who we believe were wrongfully denied clemency. Read the entire story.
